Markem Provides the Winning Formula

A major food manufacturer has used the software expertise of MARKEM Systems, the UK’s leading provider of coding and marking systems, in a successful on-pack promotion.

Consumers were given the chance of winning £500 every hour by texting a unique number to the competition phone line. This number was to be printed on the pack using MARKEM SmartDate coders running at normal line speeds.

MARKEM’s Systems Integration team took the brief and created a new FILEPRINT software product which feeds a network of coders with non-repeating numbers, randomly selected from a database of millions

Along with the unique promotional number, the SmartDate coders print a clear set of date codes and real-time traceability data on every pack. So as not to compromise line efficiency, the aim was to print 80 packs per minute but the MARKEM Systems Integration team managed to exceed this by 25%.
