While 3 out of 4 MARKEM customers purchase standard coding systems, a growing number are requesting individualized coding solutions designed for their specific applications. Some custom applications require modifications to only a single machine. Other projects require multiple, modified coding systems, integrated with custom hardware and software. To address this range of needs, MARKEM has introduced Application and Engineering Services as part of its Uptime Total Services Program. Application and Engineering Services employs engineers and specialists with the experience and capability to identify and deliver the coding solution that’s right for your application.

Application and Engineering Services follows a multi-step process that includes:

Application Evaluation. MARKEM professionals will work with you and your support staff to understand your specialized coding requirements. The scope of this evaluation will match your technical requirements, ranging from sharing electronic files to on site surveys.

Feasibility Study and Proposal. Based on data collected from the application evaluation, we will establish mutually agreed upon specifications and product technical recommendations - all designed around your specific needs.

Solution Integration. Once the project has been approved, MARKEM will design, source and manufacture the custom application hardware and software, test and document each component and coordinate all installation support and training required to meet the specifications.

Automated Data Input/Code Detection - an automated data system, designed to make the data input process as error free as possible and verify that the codes printed are correct.
Network Connectivity - ensuring the solution makes required communications with external data, or allowing for centralized control and monitoring of print functions.
Customized Coder Integration - mechanical and software configurations to ensure the coder works perfectly in your application.
Product Handling/Control - customized conveyors, guarding, etc. as required for safety, ease-of-use and ease-of-integration.
Print Process - laboratory or on site assistance to match inks or printing parameters to the application speeds, environment, substrate and print quality requirements.
