One coder: Many solutions
The SmartDate 5 coder was designed to bring you the highest levels of coding performance, efficiency and economy across a wide range of packaging applications.
The key to this is the coder’s flexibility - giving you a precise, no-compromise solution to your coding requirement whether on bagging, flow-wrapping, labelling or tray sealing lines. You can switch the SmartDate 5 between intermittent and continuous modes, and change from left- to right-handed operation in minutes. You benefit from increased uptime and productivity, and reduced maintenance, training and inventory costs.
Putting you in control
The SmartDate 5 comes with a full-colour touch-screen controller as standard. You can use the USB port to add or download coding data and the icon-driven menu guides your operator through set-up procedures whilst clearly displaying the selected image. This helps prevent change-over errors and acts as a visual check throughout the production run.
Alternatively, you can opt for the classic controller design, with its monochrome graphic display; the two options are interchangeable. Or if you prefer to integrate the coder controls with those of the parent packaging machine you can use the coder’s web browser technology to manage the entire line from a single control point.
Printing fast, printing slowly – and printing economically
The SmartDate 5 delivers consistently high print quality at speeds of up to 1000mm per second, so you can make full use of your wrapping machine’s performance. For even faster flow-wrapping applications the SmartDate 5s -with its patented shuttle mechanism - will keep pace with substrate speeds of up to 1800mm per second.
To prevent the loss of prints that can occur in high-speed wrapping lines subject to challenging speed profiles (where rapid acceleration and deceleration curves include a brief yet critical slow speed phase), the SmartDate 5 coder prints at speeds as low as 5mm per second.
If you are looking to minimise the cost of coding, you’ll appreciate the ribbon economy of the SmartDate 5. Precise print control means that the gap between prints is just 0.5mm, allowing up to 10 percent more prints from the same print ribbon. Then there’s a range of ribbon-saving features for both intermittent and continuous operation to help you control your consumable costs
